OUR STORY

THE FIRST walnut grove

The first Italian walnut grove is ours.  We started farming walnuts in 1991 and initially chose the Lara variety promoting it in the geographical region of the Polesine and in the rest of the country. Our product quickly became the subject of seminars and round tables, and certainly the center of our own dinner table. We travelled around the world in order to study and achieve the best standards and we feel proud of having introduced such a high quality product in Italy.

QUALITY

An excellent natural local product

We achieved top quality results by consulting farms in California, France and Spain. Our goal has always been to figure out an innovative way to produce and process a product of the highest quality. A goal we always keep in mind.

Today, thanks to our new in-house processing system, we are able to harvest, wash, dry and stock our walnuts in a single day.

VARIETIES

Varieties: Lara, Chandler and Tulare.

Today we grow three varieties on our farm. We started with the Lara variety and added two more, the Chandler and Tulare, in order to accommodate every taste. Inside the round and hard shell of the Lara variety you will find a sweet fruit, in contrast with the strong and intense flavor of the thin shelled Tulare variety. The Chandler variety, with its typical walnut taste, represents the most traditional choice.

Walnuts are one of the oldest fruit known to man in the area of the Mediterranean and it was popular among the Greek and Latin populations. Juglans regia is its scientific name, which means Jove's acorn, the fruit of divinity. The walnut is an energetic food, a fruit especially precious for people's health thanks to the fatty acids it contains. The walnut plays an important role in the Mediterranean diet. For more informations about its benefits you can read this article from the European Food Information Council. Researchers have been telling us in the last decades that the walnut's nutritional benefits come mainly from the omega-3 fatty acids it contains, which offer an important contribution for cardiovascular diseases prevention. To learn more about the qualities of these fatty acids you can read this article from the Italian Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca per gli Alimenti e la Nutrizione.
